Welcome to Wakaliwood, the country of Wakaliga, just outside the capital of Uganda, home to the incredible action films of the eccentric Isaac Nabwana, the African Tarantino.

The film tells the story of two men who, on opposite sides of the world, share a passion for Chuck Norris. Isaac, a former Ugandan brickmaker, grabs a video camera and begins filming his epic, 1980s-inspired films, while Alan Hofmanis, a film-obsessed New York nerd, abandons his life in the United States and flies in Uganda after seeing trailers of Isaac’s films online. The unlikely duo, with their low-budget action films, will be able to catapult Wakaliwood to world stardom: to make films you don’t need big funding, but passion and creativity.

Cathryne Czubek – New York-based director and producer. She specializes in documentaries and commercial content, with a particular focus on social issues, for which she has received numerous awards. Among her previous films, A Girl and a Gun (2012).
