About Us
Pordenone Docs Fest is an initiative of Cinemazero, one of the most important film institutions in Italy. Each year, the festival brings the best of international documentary filmmaking to the city with award-winning films, national premieres, guests from Italy and abroad, meetings and events-transforming the Friulian capital into a privileged observatory on contemporaneity.
Historically, the Pordenone Docs Fest deals with topical issues, from human rights to ecology, from well-known to forgotten wars, to inclusiveness, opening a multifaceted window on the world, seen from a wide variety of angles.
Over the years the festival has hosted, among others Masih Alinejad, Letizia Battaglia, Marco Bellocchio, Luca Bigazzi, Liliana Cavani, Furio Colombo, Pino Donaggio, Mario Dondero, Luciano Emmer, Davide Ferrario, Fredrik Gertten, Enrico Ghezzi, Ugo Gregoretti, Nikolaus Geyrhalter, Hanif Kureishi, Cecilia Mangini, Valerio Mastandrea, Gianni Minà, Roberto Minervini, Francesco Munzi, Walter Murch, Costanza Quatriglio, Gianfranco Rosi, Andrea Segre, Valeria Sarmiento Ruiz, Corrado Stajano, Andrei Ujica, Daniele Vicari.
In addition to the screenings, which are always accompanied by filmmakers and experts, the program is enriched with opportunities for in-depth study related to the world of documentary filmmaking and beyond: conferences, master classes, matinees, seminars, workshops, concerts and cine-concerts, book presentations, Industry moments, photographic exhibitions, urban installations, and tales of good social and environmental practices: a well-structured program to give the public a picture that is never taken for granted or definitive, but as sharp and complete as possible on the themes and topics that the festival has always placed at the center of its reconnaissance.
