NIUDOC 2026 – Pordenone Docs Fest

NIUDOC 2026

The first phase of NIUDOC 2026 – Where Stories Begin, the program dedicated to the development of emerging young talents in documentary filmmaking, concluded during the 19th edition of Pordenone Docs Fest.

Out of more than 75 applications received, six documentary projects were selected to take part in the development program:

  • Il Kaiju Friulano by Giulio Golfieri and Matteo Quaiattini
  • Lumin by Giovanni Bez
  • I Remember… by Arta Kroni
  • L’Oro e il Miele by Matteo Trevisan
  • Weird Bridges by Faye Shu
  • Where Is My Bed? by Ana Vučićević

The selection was curated by Massimo Iannetti (Pordenone Docs Fest) and Linda Venturini (Lago Film Fest), in collaboration with filmmaker and visual artist Nika Saravanja.

During this first phase, the filmmakers presented their projects through pitching sessions and one-to-one meetings with production companies from the Triveneto area and the Balkans, fostering a dynamic exchange of creative ideas and production perspectives.

The day concluded with an awards ceremony, during which the following prizes were presented:

  • Il Kaiju Friulano by Giulio Golfieri and Matteo Quaiattini – Impronta Films Consultancy Award, in collaboration with Impronta Films
  • I Remember… by Arta Kroni – #DocsConnect Taskovski Training Award, in collaboration with Taskovski Films
  • Where Is My Bed? by Ana Vučićević – NIUDOC 2026 Best Project Award

The program will now continue with a tutoring phase supporting the authors in project development, scriptwriting, and the creation of pitch decks and teasers, from April to July. The materials produced will be presented in July 2026 as part of Lago Film Fest.

NIUDOC is an initiative promoted by CNA Cinema Audiovisivo FVG, CNA Cinema Audiovisivo Veneto, Pordenone Docs Fest – Le voci del documentario, and Lago Film Fest, in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund.
