A reflection on racism in America, as well as an intimate portrait of a community fighting for justice, dignity, and survival.
New Orleans, 2017: Judy tries to save her bar in the Black neighborhood of Tremé, despite the owners wanting to shut it down. Two young brothers search for the right way to grow up, guided by their mother, who is determined to keep them away from the streets and the dangers that so often threaten the lives of young Black children. Activists from the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense fight for justice for victims of racially motivated killings, starting with Alton Sterling, who was killed the previous year by two white police officers.
