UN PAYS EN FLAMMES

2024, France, 70'

Mona Convert

NATIONAL PREMIERE

Flames in the dark, spectacular and timeless. In the heart of the Landes forest, among lands suspended over water, a family passes down from generation to generation the secrets of fire and pyrotechnics.

Patrick, Margot, and Jean Pujol-Auzier, the film’s protagonists, have, each in their own way, a unique and intense relationship with fire and nature. Some merge with fireworks, some orchestrate choreographed fireflies as darkness caresses their movement as nocturnal beings. Timeless rites, images of sparkling power, where darkness is home to spectacular cascades of light, dazzling flashes, which all  components of the family invent and renew, clad in shining armor. A family tradition that passes down the ritual of “fire” over time: persistent, fascinating, untamable. A hymn to light and the basic elements of human existence.
