LIGHT MEMORIES
2024, Equador, Germany, 80' 5 April, 16:00, Sala Grande - CinemazeroMisha Vallejo Prut
Images, often, hide secrets. Misha, who knows its beauty and strength by being a photographer, rewinds the story of his own family: in a poetic and intense tale, memory reveals that it has no single face.
In Misha Vallejo’s family, no one ever talks about his grandfather. He hears of it for the first time only as an adult, thanks to a collection of found photos. Who was this elusive figure? And what legacy is weighing on the family? The slides that belonged to Vallejo’s grandfather raise more questions than they answer. Even his grandmother does not recognize most of the people portrayed. To his children, their father has always been a stranger. As the director interrogates family members and delves into their silent past, striking similarities with his own life emerge. Appearing-amongst images of great beauty-is a portrait of a fragmented family marked by absent father figures: will the deep bond between family members succeed in renewing hope and reconciliation?
