Amid impossible debts and the Israeli-Palestinian war knocking at the door, Amman’s oldest cinema represents the last outpost of a community that has nothing left but its memory.

In a poetic narrative interspersed with exceptional archival material from the Arab-Israeli wars, employees Youssef and Ali struggle to save their cinema, sunk by the owner’s stealing-even government funds. Trapped in the box office, they live off the few pennies of Hussien, a homeless man who seeks refuge in the theater. As protests over the war in Gaza erupt outside, the decline of the cinema becomes a mirror of a general crisis. An illuminating fresco of what memory and loss are to ordinary people in the shadow of the great History.
