This film traces intentions, aspirations, planning and “broken dreams” related to the prospect of a communist revolution.

Commissioned from Bellocchio by the municipality of Piacenza to mark the centenary of the death of Giuseppe Verdi (born in the province of Parma to a family of Piacenza origin), the film – rich in music and testimonies – Retrace the places where Verdi lived or where he is continually evoked, bringing the past to life with great intensity, making us participate in the events and contexts.
