Igor Bezinović, Croatian director and one of the most original voices on the contemporary scene, is the author of films such as The Blockade, Veruda, A Brief Excursion and River or Death! – works awarded nationally and internationally, from the Rotterdam
IFF to the Pula Film Festival.
His cinema crosses documentary and fiction with great formal freedom, exploring social, political and urban spaces with a direct, ironic and deeply human gaze. Trained between film directing and philosophical and sociological studies, Bezinović brings to his works a constant reflection on community, territory and collective memory.
This masterclass offers a unique opportunity to get to the heart of his method: the construction of the real, the work with non-professional actors and actresses3, independent production strategies and the relationship between aesthetics, politics and everyday life. A moment of open dialogue with an innovative author, capable of reinventing, film after film, what cinema can observe and tell.
